WHAT DO I NEED TO GET EE TV?

To get EE TV, you need a few things:

  • EE Home Broadband - if you're already a customer, you'll need to sign up for a new 18 month contract for EE TV and Home Broadband
  • A TV with a spare HDMI socket or SCART socket
  • A broadband speed of at least 4 megabits per second (4 MBps) - you can check in our guide to testing your broadband speed
  • A TV aerial - rooftop or loft aerials work best. Satellite dishes won't work and a set-top aerial is not recommended
  • To live in a digital TV area with a good signal strength - head over to the coverage checker at digitaluk
Do I need a TV aerial to get EE TV?

Yes, you'll need a working aerial (ideally rooftop) to get your digital TV channels and programme guide.

If you're already getting Freeview via your aerial, then you're probably ok. If you receive the channels below on these specific channel numbers, then you are using the correct type of digital aerial.

  • ITV2 on channel 6
  • Dave on channel 12
  • ITV3 on channel 10
  • Music on channel 18

How do I check if I have a compatible TV aerial?

A rooftop aerial is not a dish. It's not freesat, or Sky, or cable like Virgin Media. Look at some rooftops nearby you and something you see that isn't a satellite dish is probably a rooftop aerial.

Do I need an aerial point in the same room as my EE TV box?

You may be able to get a long aerial cable, but your first thinking should be to put your EE TV box in the room with the aerial point.

What if I live in a block of flats with a communal aerial?

If you already get Freeview, then you're all set. If you can't, it may be that the signal isn't strong enough and you may need to check with your landlord or housing association.

Can I use an indoor or mobile aerial?

You can, although the signal may be too weak to get a good quality picture or the full range of channels.

That said, if you already get good reception from this method then it may still work for your EE TV box.

Do you recommend an aerial signal booster?

Before you try one, there are some other ways to improve your signal. Go to www.digitaluk.co.uk to get some handy tips.

Do I need a TV License to watch EE TV?

Yes.

Do I need an HDMI socket on my TV to get EE TV and what is it?

HDMI stands for High Definition Media Interface. You need an HD Ready TV and that will normally have an HDMI socket on it. You need an HDMI socket on your TV to connect EE TV. You can find at the back or the side of your TV. It looks a bit like a USB port, but wider.

What if I don't have a spare HDMI socket on my TV?

If you don't have an HDMI socket then you can use a SCART cable. Simply tell us when ordering and we'll send you one that fits your EE TV box.

How fast does the speed of my broadband line need to be?

Most of the content you'll watch from day to day uses a Freeview signal and your EE TV's hard drive. Only On Demand content is affected by the speed of your broadband connection.

Multi Screen: up to four compatible devices and software required to watch content on devices connected to the set-top box - see our website for compatible devices. EETV app, Flick and Touch Control: download and connect the app to your EE home WiFi. Replay: Activate Replay and select six channels for automatic record. Box won't record between 3am - 5am. Recorded content only kept for maximum 24 hours. Replay excludes HD. Restart: Only on your six Replay channels. Watch recorded content within 24 hours. Restart excludes HD.

Broadband & TV offers

These introductory offers are available to customers living in our network area joining EE Broadband and taking EE TV, direct with EE, for the first time. Pay line rental in advance

Payment is a one off charge for 12 months or 18 months, paid in advance on your first bill, and paid annually thereafter. Non-refundable.

Data boost

Available to new and existing Pay Monthly mobile customers who sign up to home broadband plan. Data allowance boosted by 5GB. Not available with 30 Day SIM Only plans or non-lead Sharer plans. You'll lose the data boost if you cancel your broadband. In order to retain your data boost when you upgrade or change your pay monthly plan, your EE home broadband must still be active and you must be moving to an eligible pay monthly plan.

Norton Security:

12 month subscription to Norton Security Premium for up to ten devices worth £59.99. Offer available to customers joining EE broadband for the first time. Subscription automatically renews for year 2 (currently £29.99). Set "Auto-Renewal" to "off" in your Norton account to avoid subscription charges.

Switching to EE Broadband
What does it take to switch to EE?

It couldn't be easier to join us. Simply enter your landline number and/or postcode in our Availability Checker to check the speed available to your home, choose your package online, enter your details and we'll take care of the rest.

Will I be able to keep my existing phone number?

You can usually keep your phone number. If you provide us with your existing phone number when you're completing your order online, we'll let you know.

How long will it take for my Bright Box router to arrive?

Your Bright Box and Quick Start Guide will arrive by post before your Broadband switches to EE. And you won't need to wait in for a delivery, as the Bright Box has been designed to fit through a standard letterbox.

What if I need a new phone line?

If you need a new phone line, simply tick the box requesting an appointment with an engineer when making your online order, and we'll be in touch as soon as this has been arranged for you. A standard installation charge of £60 will be added to your first bill.

Is the broadband data allowance really unlimited?

Yes. Unlimited means unlimited. Customers within our network area on any unlimited Fibre or Broadband plan have an unlimited data allowance. This means you can browse, download, stream videos and play games online without worrying about usage caps or extra costs. For more information check our Traffic Management Policy.

Are calls included?

All EE packages include landline weekend calls to UK landlines beginning 01, 02 & 03 (midnight Friday to midnight Sunday). Re-dial before 60 minutes to avoid call charges. All calls are rounded up to the nearest minute. If you make calls to numbers beginning 084, 087, 09 or 118 in the UK, your call charge is comprised of the EE access charge and a service charge that is set by the organisation you are calling. When you call 0845 or 0870 numbers at any time we'll cover the cost of the EE access charge.

If you'd also like Anytime calls to UK landlines, 1500 minutes to call UK mobiles, and calls to landlines in 40 countries, you can add these, when your first sign-up to your Fibre or Broadband plan, for an additional £6.50 each month. Calls to landlines in 40 countries: these are calls from your UK landline to landlines in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy incl. Vatican City, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, South Africa, Argentina, Canada (incl. mobiles), Chile, Colombia, USA (incl. mobiles), China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, Australia.

Do you want to keep in touch with family and friends abroad - but want to pay less? The International Extra add-on gives you 500 minutes to call from your UK landline to landlines in 42 countries. Plus a 30% discount on calls from your UK landline to all international landlines. It can be added to your plan, when you first sign-up for broadband, for an additional £6.50 each month.

The 500 minutes can be used to call landlines in the following 42 countries: Andorra, Croatia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Monaco, Norway, Russia, San Marino, Switzerland, Morocco, Zambia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mexico, Panama Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela, Virgin Islands (US), Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Macao, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan.

A 17p connection charge and standard per minute charges apply if you have used up your allowance for calls to international landlines. Unused minutes do not rollover. Calls to international landlines will be subject to a 1,000 minute fair use policy and you cannot use this allowance to make calls to non-geographic or premium rate numbers.
